Important files deserve more than a filename.

Packtell is a file-organizing tool that runs on your computer. Bring important files scattered across your computer, Downloads and cloud drives into one story, with their context, versions and changes. Find them, hand them over or continue later without reconstructing everything from folders.

Why kept
Keep the agreement and the condition of the home together.

The files are there. Their story is missing.

Downloads, Desktop, email attachments, chat apps, Google Drive, OneDrive… Saving files gets easier. Remembering how they fit together gets harder.

Which is the final version?

final.pdf → final-v2.pdf → final-really-final.pdf

Why did I keep this?

The file remains. The reason for the decision has faded.

Where did it come from?

An email, a website, a friend, a cloud drive. The source slips away.

Where did I leave off?

Six months later, all you see is a pile of files.

Packtell reduces the time it takes to understand your files again.

Say you are renewing a visa.

Passport, forms, older filings, photos, payment records, school documents, email attachments. Some came from your computer, some from a website, some already have three versions. Six months later, will you still know why each one is here?

Visa renewal
  • Passport.pdf
  • I-765.pdf
  • photo.jpg
  • DS-2019.pdf
  • receipt.pdf
  • cover-letter.docx

Packtell treats these files as one matter. In Packtell, a matter like this is called a Package.

A Package is a story you want to understand later.

A visa application, home records, a client delivery, a trip, a research project, a collection of photos, or work that keeps changing.

  • School enrollment
  • Taxes
  • Moving
  • Travel
  • Client delivery
  • Research
  • Home repairs
  • Insurance claims
  • Job search

You are organizing the things your files belong to.

Keep the story with the file.

Keep what a file is, when it was added, where it came from, which version it belongs to, and why you put it here. Later, its filename does not have to explain everything.

Stop guessing which “final-v7” is final.

When files change, old and new versions still belong to the same story. See when something changed, which file replaced which, and exactly which version you delivered.

Files from different places. One story.

Files on your computer go into Packtell, which manages the actual files locally. Files already in Google Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox stay there and connect by reference. NAS and S3 are future connections.

Letting AI work on one task does not mean handing it your whole computer.

When you want AI to help with a task, start with a Package. Include the files, materials and background that belong to it, and let AI work within that scope. It does not need to search your entire Downloads folder, Desktop or drive, or start with access to everything.

A Package tells you which files belong to a task, and tells AI: this time, start with these.

A handoff needs more than a ZIP file.

A useful delivery explains what this is, which files it includes, which version to use, and how to check that the delivered set has not been mixed up.

Explore the story

After the files leave your hands, you still know exactly what you sent.

The handoff ends. The files can keep being useful.

Months or years later, you may need the report, the sources and the decisions again. Open the whole story without digging through folders to reconstruct it.

What this is. Which version mattered. Why you decided.

Life leaves important files, too.

Keep the ordinary things that become difficult to reconstruct later.

Moving

Lease, quotes, receipts, photos and repair records belong to the same move.

School forms, health forms, reports and activities still belong to a recognizable school year.

Family travel

Flights, hotels, plans, insurance, photos and expenses remain one trip after you return.

Some stories belong to more than one person.

Homes, children, trips and important family records often need more than one person. Keep their ownership and context clear, then create a shared Family Space when you need it.

Giving files to Packtell does not mean giving them to our servers.

Put computer files into Packtell to manage locally. Connect files in third-party storage from where they already live. Local use never requires uploading the actual files to OrbiFabric Cloud.

No account required. Download Packtell and use all of its local capabilities.

Only when you want to continue on another device do you need to consider Cloud.

If you want another device to know about your Packages, file names, versions and notes, you can register for and connect OrbiFabric Cloud when you need it. The actual files still come from your own devices or the third-party storage you choose.

Less time searching, guessing and starting over.

Let the files carry the explanation you would otherwise have to reconstruct.

Less searching

Related files stay with the thing they belong to.

Less guessing

Know which version replaced which.

Less remembering

Sources, notes and decisions stay together.

Less reorganizing

Continue after a handoff, on another device, or months later.

Do more with your next important file than drop it in a folder.

Give it a place in the story it belongs to. When you return, you will still know what happened.
