Only when you want to continue on another device do you need to consider Cloud.
If you want another device to know about your Packages, file names, versions and notes, you can register for and connect OrbiFabric Cloud when you need it. The actual files still come from your own devices or the third-party storage you choose.
The story travels. Your actual files come from your storage.
A filename, a version and a note can help another device understand a Package. They cannot recreate the document, photo or spreadsheet itself.
Everything local, without an account.
Download Packtell and use all of its local capabilities. Connecting Cloud is a separate choice; signing in does not automatically connect local-only spaces.
Names and notes are still your data.
For spaces you connect, Cloud can sync Package and Space names, file names, notes, versions, events, device information, relationships and device-reported availability. These details may contain personal information. Actual file contents and storage credentials do not enter Cloud.
Family sharing uses the same separation.
Cloud coordinates membership across family devices. The chosen storage service holds the family copies; an authorized Packtell device prepares file access.
